About

Martin Montoya  has found great success as both an educator and designer, particularly in the field of the marching arts.  Born and raised in Austin, TX, Mr. Montoya has recently returned to his native state after residing in Michigan for the past 5 years.  Currently, Martin resides in Lake Jackson, where he serves as Assistant Director of Bands at Brazoswood High School.  Additionally, Martin maintains an active schedule as a clinician and designer for programs of all levels.  Martin currently serves on the instructional staff of the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps from Fort Mill, SC and designs for the Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps, a new group from the Rio Grande Valley, TX.

Mr. Montoya joins the Brazoswood staff, after having served as a band director at both L'Anse Creuse High School (Harrison Township) and Plymouth-Canton Educational Park (Canton).  At the PCEP, Montoya's duties included directing the Symphony and Concert bands, as well as the award-winning Plymouth-Canton Marching Band.  The PCMB has a national reputation for excellence in performance, and innovation in design.  Under Montoya's direction the band made its 20th appearance as a Top 12 Finalist at the Bands of America Grand National Championships.  Prior to this appointment, Montoya served the PCMB in an instructional capacity, helping the band make 3 additional appearances as a Grand National Finalist, as well as winning 3 state chamionships.  Previously, Martin served on the music faculty of Spring Arbor University.  Martin has previously been on the instructional staff for the bands of  David Crockett H.S. (2003-2004), Texas State University (2004), and James Bowie H.S. (2001-2003).

Martin holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Texas State University, and a Master of Music degree in Trombone Performance from Michigan State University.  During the summers of 2001 and 2002, Martin had the honor of marching with the DCI World Champions, The Cavaliers from Rosemont, IL.
